The agreement between republicans and democrats in the USA to extend the national debt limit did not demonstrate the true power of negotiating a win win solution. Right wing republicans and left wing democrats are unhappy. Self-interest and adversarial party politics took priority over the greater good. Likewise in Syria and Libya, President Assad and Colonel Gaddafi demonstrate that their fears are greater than personal integrity. Both men have chosen to surrender their authentic power by using their positions to try and overpower, capture, wound, harm or kill those who challenge them. They seek to retain their position in government by force. It appears both men are emotionally attached to their positions. They exemplify to the world the absence of true power, not the expression of it. Had President Assad and Colonel Gaddafi felt truly empowered, they would have been ready and willing to hold general elections. Instead they have chosen lose-lose situations. Death and destruction on all sides is not winning.
To surrender to the will of the majority or a greater authority can be hard if you are attached to a position, belief or identity. To relinquish these can raise fears for the future and trigger insecurities. However, difficulty always holds choice within it. One can either to look for the opportunities for learning and growth, which is exercising the choice for creative empowerment, or choose victimhood and blame. Neither is wrong, both are merely decisions. Is there a situation or dilemma in your life where people or an organisation are demanding something of you which you do not wish to surrender? Are you willing to consider a win win solution for all? How attached are you to the situation or belief. What are your fears? Can a greater good be served? Is an opportunity being presented for you to exercise your True Power? If so, what a wonderful position to be in!
