The refusal of Colonel Gaddafi to step down, accept his fate and surrender the illusion of temporal power, serves as an excellent metaphor for the ‘struggle’ of the individual ego to survive. All fear, suffering, anxiety and stress are sourced in identification with the egocentric personality or mind. It is the basic human dysfunction. However, there is far more to you than who you think you are.
Each person holds within them, the light of pure consciousness, which is infinite, eternal, all knowing and fearless. It is accessed when you surrender to and accept what is. This causes the mind to become still, allowing your true nature and power to be revealed as the natural flow of pure consciousness passes through you. It is a state of authentic empowerment or ‘enlightenment,’ which can only be experienced, not taught. It is a state of conscious awareness or Presence, which is far greater than the linear, logical mind. This state of Presence or Beingness has been recognised by Indian sages for millennia. Once Presence is experienced, conscious acts of will are then required to ensure that the ego mind becomes and remains your servant, instead of being a tyrannical master. The egocentric mind is not wrong. It has been an excellent evolutionary device enabling mankind to survive in physical form. It is also a magnificent tool for organising your life but do not be deceived into believing it represents your true identity and power.
Currently, humanity is in the process of evolving beyond the limitations of the egocentric personality to the higher state of intuitive or inspired consciousness. Many people are now seeking to claim their freedom and authentic personal power. To achieve this requires the surrender of the ego personality, which usually entails ‘struggle.’ The ego wants to survive and retain its’ control, identity and pretence as the limited personality self. It has run your life for a long time. As it does not want to be out of a job, it will put up strong resistance. Bashar al Assad in Syria and Colonel Gaddafi represent the old egocentric forms of power, the foundations of which are crumbling. They do not personify the magnificence and expression of the true power which exists within us all. Acceptance and surrender are the most empowering steps you can take to claim it!
