True Power, Freedom and Slavery

The source of all suffering is enslavement to thinking and identification with the ego mind. It keeps you in limitation, feeling fearful and stressed.

Many people spend their lives overthinking.  When you allow your thoughts to take complete control of your attention, unconsciously, you identify with the voice in your head and become its slave by thinking it is ‘you.’ It is not. You are not your thoughts. There is far more to you than who you think you are.  At the core of your Being you possess a limitless source of authentic power, potential and intuitive intelligence.  It is a state of pure, conscious presence which can be accessed and experienced when the ego mind is still.

The issue of slavery has been highlighted by the arrest of 5 people held under the Slavery and Servitude Act. This followed a raid by more than 200 police officers on the Greenacre Park, a traveller’s site, in Bedfordshire on Sunday. It has been reported that 15 men are being treated for malnutrition and medical problems.

Key dynamics of slavery are being under the control of another person or influence, servitude and entrapment. These are also features of the ego mind.   Fear and wanting are its’ driving forces.  Many people allow themselves to be driven hither and thither by the ego mind which is never satisfied or joyful.  Being imprisoned by your thoughts usually results in stress, ill health and feeling depleted. This is not to say the ego mind is a bad thing. It is not.  The mind is a superb tool for organising and planning your life. It becomes your master when you allow it to take over your life. You are more than your thoughts, when you understand this transformation and release can follow.

True Power and freedom cannot be experienced whilst people are enthralled to incessant thinking. If this applies to you, are you willing to set yourself free and know yourself differently? If so, some keys to freedom are living in the now,  practising acceptance through non-judgment, meditation or other  exercises, such as pranayama, to still your mind.

True Power and freedom or slavery.. as ever, the choice is yours.

Spotlight on Stress
